For 2016 I wondered what new series of posts I could introduce each month. As I was looking through my photo archives I came across some interesting and a little unusual pictures. So this idea became the basis for Photo of the Month.
This photo was taken as I was walking along the street in old Rome. I call it Levitating Man and it was just fascinating to see someone “floating” on air without the magical special effects of TV. As a traveller we see many strangely interesting things, places and even people. It is these small things that makes our trips that much more interesting.
Ideas can come from anywhere even the movies. We see a city highlighted in one of our favourite movies and feel it drawing us to explore more. This is one method I use when choosing my next destination. Movies I feel are inspirational or I can connect with the characters’ thoughts and ambitions. Continue reading
Many movies have been inspired and filmed in Rome including one of my favourites – Roman Holiday. When I was in Rome this past August, I made a point to visit a few locations used in the movie. Although it was not my first visit to Rome, it felt like it. I experienced this ancient city again from a different perspective – without a tour group and stopped off longer at these unique places. While I don’t recommend walking the streets at night after a couple of sleeping pills like Audrey Hepburn did in the movie, the city is worth a look day and night. Continue reading
